Latvia@World Project Training Started in Riga

The Latvian Information and Communications Technology Association (LIKTA) has begun to offer free computer training to people in Riga under the auspices of the Latvia@World project. On August 10, a new computer training class was opened. The first instructors were certified on June 9 - 11. The plan is to train 30 instructors and then more than 1,000 residents of Riga by the end of 2006. The training is occurring with financial support from the Riga City Councilís E-Riga project, as well as the Microsoft Unlimited Potential programme. The telecommunications company Lattelecom supported the installation of the training classroom.
